Here’s my recommended list of books in no particular order:
-“The Bible” By. God
-“The Explicit Gospel” By. Matt Chandler
Oh snap, truth hits you in the face. This book is an explanation of the gospel at its fullest based on Scripture. This book takes an in depth look at things and challenges the way you have looked at the gospel.
-“Jesus > Religion: Why He Is So Much Better Than Trying Harder, Doing More, And Being Good Enough” By. Jefferson Bethke
This book is based on the YouTube spoken word by Bethke with the same title. It takes a look at the difference in religion and Jesus. Easy to understand read and really like the way Bethke puts into terms basic Christianity concepts.
-“Kingdom Woman” By. Tony Evans
This book takes a look at what scripture has to say about being a godly woman, a woman that is kingdom minded. Evans pulls scripture that is not normally looked focused on when it comes to “women of God stuff” (aka he uses more than Proverbs 31).
-“Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul” By. John and Stasi Eldredge
Another great scripture based book on how God designed woman.Really challenges you to take a look inside. Not an easy read at time because it is very reflective, but oh, so good.
-“Gospel-Centered Discipleship” By. Jonathon Dodson
This book combines Biblical theology with real world practice in discipleship. Really like the way Dodson explains discipleship!
-“The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass” By. Mandy Hale
Truthfully, just bought the book because the title made me laugh. Surprisingly good! Not a deep theological book, but very encouraging to read if you are a Jesus loving single gal. Hale is funny and relatable.
-“Radical: Taking Back Your Faith From the American Dream” By. David Platt
Should be re-titled “Slap in the Face.” So good. Really makes you look at why are you doing what you’re doing as far as church goes.
-“Jesus Is: Find a New Way to Be Human” By. Judah Smith
Really great book breaking down elements of who Jesus is based on scripture. Would recommend to newer believers or mature believers wanting a rejuvenation. Smith is hilarious and puts it in easy to understand terms.
-“Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit” By. Francis Chan
Oh man so good. This book takes a look at the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit works and moves.
-“When God Writes Your Love Story” By. Eric and Leslie Ludy
I would like to go on record and say that I was totally against reading this book based on the title until a girl who discipled me highly recommended it. Surprisingly good! Just convicts you handing all things over to God. I’ve joked with friends who have read this book and we think it should be titled, “When God Write Your Life Story.”
-“To Live is Christ to Die is Gain” By. Matt Chandler
This book breaks down Philippians, and ways we can apply the concept of a life in full pursuit of Jesus to our lives today. Another one of those slap you in the face so good books.
-“Not a Fan: Becoming a Completely Committed Follower of Jesus” By. Kyle Idleman
Takes a look at what it means to be a fan of Jesus versus a follower. Idleman is so sarcastic and not afraid to hold back. This book really convicts you in how you’re living life with Jesus.
